PHILANTHROPIST, HUMANITARIAN, RACER

"I have had numerous wins, but nothing compares to the fulfillment I get from helping others." - Mini Tyrrell on surpassing $475,000 in donations raised.

Background: In 2010, Mini’s friend Ella was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  After witnessing her battle, Mini became determined to use racing as a tool to help others.

Mini’s Mission "Burn Rubber to Help Another" was created as a fundraising program, raising awareness and donations for childhood cancer and other causes. To win the race, Mini is proud to partner with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation. Their respective missions are to improve the quality of life for children battling cancer and provide funding for needed research.

2020 donation benefiting the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation

The mission of the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation is to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers and to raise awareness. We do this by adopting a child and making them an honorary pit crew member, but it's not just for one race, it's for as long as the child and family are in need of support and beyond.

If you would like to make a donation please make check payable to "FOJ" and mail to Mini Tyrrell, 8119 Rugby Road, Manassas, VA 20111.  No donation is to big or to small.  Anything makes a difference ~ Mini

Every day, 43 children are diagnosed with some form of pediatric cancer — nearly 16,000 children per year, making it the leading cause of death by disease among children. And yet just 4 percent of the National Cancer Institute's research budget goes to children's cancer research. Research to uncover better treatments and a cure for childhood cancer relies heavily on private donations.

Jaclyn's Story

In 2004, nine-year-old Jaclyn Murphy was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor. Through chance events, she became connected to and later adopted by a collegiate lacrosse team as an honorary team member.

Later, Jaclyn shared her dream of helping all of the sick children in the hospital with her family. In 2005, the Murphy family created Friends of Jaclyn Foundation to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors, allowing them to: Live in the Moment, Play in the Moment.

The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation has helped more than 760 families with brain tumors and other childhood cancers.
